Calling all Dancestronauts!
(Rescheduled from April 1st)
It is time to suit up for our First Friday Space Walk!
May 13, 6:30-7:30, Kids accompanied by an adult, on the SixTwelve lawn
As the Sun sets and the Stars appear, join in some Dancestronaut fun at Six Twelve! Through movement and dance as well as creative games, we will explore Stars, Planets, and Outer Space! We will begin our time together with Dancestronaut training and then we will embark on an imaginative journey of play and creation through movement and dance making. This is a fun interactive event for families in our community and across the galaxy!
Commanding Dancestronaut training is lead Dancestronaut, dance artist, and educator Julie Mulvihill. She is excited to share her love of Outer Space and movement with the people in her neighborhood through SixTwelve. Be sure to dress as the Earthly weather advises as we will be conducting our training and research in the out-of-this-world SixTwelve yard.
Julie Mulvihill holds a PhD in Dance Theory and Practice from Texas Woman’s University and a teaching certification in the Alexander Technique from Chesapeake Bay Alexander Studies. She is currently teaching at the School of Dance at the University of Oklahoma and is an Artist in Residence at the SixTwelve in Oklahoma City. Julie serves as the president of the World Dance Alliance- Americas and on the editorial team for WDA’s Journal of Emerging Dance Scholarship. She is also the editor of the Alexander Technique International’s ExChange Journal. Julie has studied, practiced, and taught all kinds of movement in all kinds of ways with all kinds of people!
