Building Together

This fundraising compilation record brought to you by SixTwelve & Swat Meet Inc out of OKC.
Over the summer, both community building/after care programs banded together to create a unique experience for children, musicians, listeners and the community.
They assembled a team of Oklahoma based artists to meet up with kids from their respective aftercare programs virtually, talked to them about what kind of songs they would want to hear and helped them develop these ideas. Then, they reached out to artists from all over Oklahoma to transform these wild child imaginings into fully fledged songs. The record sees familiar bands performing material about content you might not usually expect from them. From Jabee crooning about different cartoons over the decades, Samantha Crain singing about how the world loves to be green or Broncho singing about the simplicity of a great friendship. And everything in between. By purchasing this record, you are helping to keep SixTwelve & Swat Meet doing what they do best. Working together to build a better community. Thank you.

These two musical gurus contributed their talents to the residency program by recording an album and working with Graveface Records in Savannah, Georgia and gave a great performance at The Jinx. The duo, Nicholas Ley and Matt Kirksey, both drummers in the Flaming Lips, have also DJ’d events at SixTweve, helping us raise funds for our programs and for the Curbside OKC. Nick teaches at ACM and Matt has embarked on a new adventure in costume design for films shot in Oklahoma. We have loved hearing the music they’ve created for their album and are so grateful for the song they contributed to the Building Together project! “Full Send” is their interpretation of a song about the video game, Fortnite, that kids and volunteers from Swat Meet INC submitted and it makes us want to dance! We hope you like it too!

They worked with a 612 student on this song who loved singing about her favorite foods. They were particuarly inspired by the students stream of consciousness style of lyrics.
