“Permaculture for everyone” is a basic overview of how to use permaculture principles in home gardens. Permaculture is a design system that mimics the natural formations of forests and other ecosystems. Permaculture is not about prescribing human notions of right and wrong, good and bad, to the world around us. It simply asks us to observe what is, and design accordingly. By using these permaculture principles, your home gardens and landscaping can be transformed into beautiful, productive eco-systems that no longer rely on constant inputs of chemicals and labor.

Kathleen Huffman is a self-described “Accidental Permaculturist” Kathleen began her career in sustainable landscaping after moving to northern California in 2011. While looking for a job that utilized her past experience as a landscaper, she accepted a position as a “land caretaker” through a non-profit that focused on urban food forests and water conservation. Working for the non-profit afforded her the opportunity to learn from experts in the fields of permaculture, food forests, water conservation and greywater installation among many other topics. A skeptic at first, Kathleen soon saw that the techniques she was learning were simple, easy ways to improve her gardens health and create long term results while reducing her gardening expenses and workload.
She is the owner of “The RePurposed Okie” a regenerative landscaping company and “The Huffman family farm” a Certified Naturally Grown farm that focuses on sustainable, no-till farming techniques.
