This Land: Fall 2015 features stories about music borne of the middle of America, with profiles, poetry, and infographics about Leon Russell, Lee Hazlewood, Chet Baker, Kristin Chenoweth, and more.
SixTwelve hosts the Oklahoma City launch of the issue on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 7-11 p.m. We'll have music from Beach Language, Lizard Police, and Cherry Death. COOP Ale Works will provide complimentary libations.
The following writers will speak briefly about their stories in this issue:
James Benjamin, who wrote about Midwest independent rap mogul Tech N9ne and his bizarre relationship with a woman from Oklahoma City;
Faith Phillips, who wrote about Woody Guthrie's Jesus;
Paul Austin, who penned a poem about the return of Chet Baker; and
Gail Banzet-Ellis, who tuned us into the radio programs garnering national attention for regional artists and issues.
The event is free and open to the public. Copies of This Land: Fall 2015, as well as other This Land merch, will be available for purchase.
